“Numbering less than 3000, African wild dogs (aka: painted wolf and cape hunting dog) are rapidly disappearing from the planet. They have been shot as vermin and are extremely susceptible to canine diseases. This pack was located in Botswana’s Okavango delta, one of the few places left where they can still be found. They frolicked in the puddles caused by the evening rains for half an hour before heading across the countryside for their morning hunt. Wild dogs are the most efficient of the super predators, capturing their prey up to 80% of the time. They can also travel over 50 miles on a hunt.” – John Banovich
