“In this painting a Siberian Tiger lays on a field of snow. He lifts his massive head and confidently sniffs the air. With recorded weights up to 700 pounds, they are by far the largest cat in the world. Living primarily in the Russian Far East with possibly a few scattered in northeastern China and northern North Korea, the Siberian Tiger was nearly extinct in the 1940’s. From as few as 50, the latest survey numbers have estimated an increase of their population to approximately 500 individuals” – John Banovich
